Verified and Validated Virtual Reality In this section we explain the technologies that each of the products is built on.
Standard 2D Marking codes The Green's Strain Rosettes were purposely designed to work off the 2D Data Matrix symbols. These are standardized 5-bit pixel codes. This design takes advantage of all the work on developing and measuring the Data Matrix symbols in the literature, eg NASA-HDBK-6003.
Using DMI proprietary technology, the deformation of the Data Matrix symbol is measured by means of a hand-held Laser Reader and its supporting Controller.
The DATA Matrix can be prepared on a multitude of materials. 1. In its most convenient form its laser bonded to adhesive material backed by Peel and Stick backing. 2. Other materials may be vulcanized and bonded to rubber. 3. A special gauge has been developed for high temperature environments up to 2000 deg. F. This is the so-called weldable gauge.
Experimental Tensile tests conducted on a Slit Tension Specimen. Selected results are presented to show the main advantages of the Green's Strain Rosettes compared with the traditional strain gauge.
